LIS provides many ways to search for legislation, including many categories and filters within its advanced search function. One will see search boxes at the top of the home page for general searching options.
Within searches you are now able to:
• Search across a current session using new search criteria within one simplified page.
• Search for multiple bills at the same time vs. one bill at a time.
• Search for bills within a status, either in the current session or within a date range across the current session.
If more in-depth searches are required on items such as patrons, legislation status and type, Committees, etc., select Advanced Search to see View Bills by Category for those options.
A Keyword search Across Sessions of all Sessions from 1994 to the current Session will be available in the future -- to use this search tool, go to Find a Bill select Keyword, then change the selection from the current Session to Across Sessions.
If you select the Keyword search option, your results will indicate how many times your keyword appears in a specific piece of legislation. Selecting a piece of legislation will highlight the keyword results in yellow.
To determine the proposed changes to the selected legislation, toggle Highlight Proposed Changes, located in the upper left-hand corner of the page. Proposed new language will be displayed in yellow italics, and proposed language to be deleted will be displayed in red strike-through. Your keyword(s) will continue to be highlighted in yellow.
Example of a bill with proposed changes highlighted:
If you select the Bills by Subject category, you may select from the categories to which legislation has been indexed in conformity with the Cumulative Index.
