Welcome to the Division of Legislative Automated Systems (DLAS), LIS (Legislative Information System) website. Hundreds of users come to this site daily to stay current on bills and resolutions, search the database, track new legislation, follow the activities of their Delegates and Senators, and generally stay current with the Virginia General Assembly.
One of the most utilized features of this site is Lobbyist-In-A-Box (LIAB). LIAB provides users with the opportunity to track legislation as it moves through the legislative process. If you have registered for an LIAB account, the Watchlist properties (formerly known as a Profile) designated by you will trigger an email to you when bills are sponsored by a member of the General Assembly, referred to a House or Senate Committee, or contain a specific key word(s), phrase(s), or Code section(s). Whether you are a lobbyist or a citizen interested in a particular legislative topic, you will find LIAB helpful. For more information about LIAB, see https://lis.virginia.gov/register-account.
If you are interested in obtaining data from LIS, you may register for your own LIS API (Application Programming Interface) key. An LIS API key will give you access to more than 40 APIs. This feature will be available beginning October 28, 2024. To register for your own API key, complete the LIS API Key Registration.
We believe you’ll find this site reliable, flexible, user-friendly, and secure. We encourage you to browse the site starting with the LIS home page.
